We are developing a growing solar power business, which can generate electricity with no air emissions, no waste production and no water use.
In 2011 we acquired two new solar projects from First Solar, a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic solar panels. The Tilbury Solar Project and the Amherstburg II Solar Project are both in Ontario and have a combined generating capacity of 20 MW. The Tilbury project was built in late 2010, and construction of the nearby Amherstburg Project will be completed in late 2011. Together the two projects can power 3,200 homes while reducing CO2 by about 10,000 tonnes a year. The projects complement our recently completed 80 MW Sarnia Solar Project - one of the largest operating photovoltaic facilities in the world.
